Lachlan Summers is a PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he researches earthquake politics in Mexico City. He and his friends were finally reinstated on August 11, 2020, while writing this piece, after having been fired during the wildcat strike of 2019–2020.
