2025 SAW Book Prize: Call for Submissions
In 2025, the SAW Book Prize will be awarded to a monograph with a publication date of 2023 or later.
The SAW Book Prize is awarded each year by the Society for the Anthropology of Work, a section of the American Anthropological Association. In 2025, the prize will be awarded to a monograph with a publication date of 2023 or later: no edited volumes, please. The prize is awarded at the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association and carries an award of $500, or $250 each in the case of multiple authors.
SAW invites submissions from all four fields of anthropology and from both authors and publishers. Self-nominations are welcome. The committee seeks to highlight scholarship that offers new empirical and analytical insights on work and labor, broadly conceived. Submissions should address issues of general concern to the subfield and to anthropology as a whole, as well as to the public.
Deadline for receiving books is June 5, 2025. Please send each member of the committee 1) a letter of nomination, describing the main contributions of the book, especially to the anthropology of work, and 2) a physical copy of the nominated book. In 2024, only edited volumes and alternative formats like graphic novels were considered for the SAW Book Prize. If you or your publisher accidentally submitted a monograph for consideration last year, you are welcome to resubmit the nomination.
